| Burma - Ladies' boot with embroidered
cloth upper The Eastern part of Burma borders to Yunnan
province of China. Many minority tribal people inhabit this region.
One of those is the Yi-tribe, which produced this boot.
The upper is made of black cloth with a red cloth lining. The
foot-part is intricately lock-stitch embroidered with flower motifs.
The one-inch thick sole consists of rice-pasted layers of cloth,
covered with cloth and is hempthread-stitched to the upper.
Other minority groups in the area use the same materials and
construction, however distinguish themselves with different styles
of embroidery. |
