| Morocco - Men's riding boot with
gild-wire embroidery This all-leather boot is very
similar to the ones from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. They are also
meant as boot-stockings, however their function is different.
They are typical riding boots, eather for horse or camel. After
descending from the animal, the wearer slips into typical North-African
mules called "babouches".
Similar riding boots are worn all over northern Africa, however
their execution and decoration differ from tribe to tribe. The
boot shown here is typical for the Berber tribe in the area of
Inezgane in Morocco and is decorated with gilded silver-wire embroidery. |
