| Kazakhstan - Ladies' boot-stocking
"magshi" Here we have another example of
a "magshi" boot stocking, created by the Tatar tribe.
The decorations are all separately cutout pieces of leather in
nicely combining colours. These are hand-stitched together.
Frequently used symbolic motifs are heart, ramhorns, bullhorns,
sun and stars. The seams of the cutout parts are all re-enforced
and covered by four-row multicolour silk-thread embroidery.
Only the top of the leg-part has a cloth cuff lining. The line-carve
decorated leather outer-sole is turn-stitched to the upper. |
