United Kingdom - Women's clog with silver ornamented leather upper - Late 19th Century

This type of clog originates in the regions of Lancashire and Doncashire in the United Kingdom, were it was the common footwear for the working class in the coalmines and textile mills. During the 19th and early 20th Century they wer worn by men, women and children alike. The clog above has an erect phallus with pubic hari carved into its wooden sole. The design was probably made upon special request and used by a prostitute or the madam of a whorehouse in the region, as part of a provocative dress to attract and ertertain customers.
