Steve Madden was born in 1958 in Lawrence, Nassau County, New York-USA. He graduated from Lawrence High school. After several jobs in the shoe trade, he set up his own shop in Brooklyn New York in 1990 with barely US$ 1000,- in his bank account. It was around the same time that Doc. Martens gained popularity with tick soled boots and shoes. Madden earned a name for himself with his '70's friendly' platformheels that gave women height without the discomfort of stiletto's. His customers include Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson and Katie Holmes. Madden's shoes are available in 3000 department stores and 60 Steve Madden stores. |
