    Kazakhstan - Ladies pump-all leather with panel decorations - Early 20th C

The Republic of Kazakhstan is vast in size, while the land is very diverse in types of terrain: flatlands, steppes, taigas, rock-canyons, hills, deltas, mountains, snow-capped mountains and deserts. For most of its history its territory has been inhabited by nomadic tribes. The ethnic Kazakhs and Russians represent the majority of the population, with a rich array of other groups represented, including Tatars, Ukrainians, Uzbeks, Belarusians, Uyghurs, Azerbaijanis, Poles, Volga Germans, Koreans, Kurds, Chechens and Meskhetian Turks. Above shoe was worn by Tatar women in the early 20th century and represents the Tatars' love for bright colours in daring combinations with leather patch mosaic hornlike motifs.
